Because teachers and other state employees in Alaska don't pay into Social Security, any benefit from Social Security based on previous employment may be affected. Make sure you understand the Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) and the Government Pension Offset (GPO). For the best information you will want to contact the Social Security Administration.
